Festival of Brass 2017 in Perth Concert Hall saw the band receive a Gold Award and overall runner-up place in the Development Section of the Scottish Youth Band Championships for the second consecutive year! A fantastic achievement yet again. The band performance and solo playing was well received by the audience and adjudicators alike. The adjudicators praised the excellent work done with the basics of brass band performance, the choice of music played and gave special mention to our kit player, Rachael.

16 November 2017

Tonight was our Annual Concert in Carlibar Primary. Our guests this year were the street band Brass, Aye?. The concert gave us the opportunity to include pieces from our programme for Perth Concert Hall next week as well as including solo performances from Hollie Campbell (Cornet), Max Shimanyan (Flugel Horn) and Harry Coyle (Tuba).

Brass, Aye? performed an enjoyable set and we finished the concert with the massed band item Hoots Mon.

Our Award winners for 2017 were Musician of the Year: Hollie Campbell, Most Improved Player: Katie Little and Most Promising Player: Marley McEwan. The Players' Choice Award voted for by the band members went to Hollie Campbell. The awards were presented by a great friend of the band, Douglas Yates

Band Camp time!

We had a great time at Gartmore House. A lot of fun and plenty  of hard work preparing for our Annual Concert and the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships later in the month. A big thank you to the tutors and the house staff for making it a successful weekend.

 7 October 2017

Our first event of the new school session took us to Tweedie Hall in Linwood. This was the venue of Brass Day 2017 hosted by Johnstone Band. Four bands gave individual performances before getting together for the Big Brass Finale. In addition to the host band and LVCB, the JP Berrie Big Band and the street band Brass, Aye? entertained the audience. Informative and amusing Workshops were presented to young and old by Davur Juul Magnussen (RSNO principal trombone) and Chris Bradley (principal cornet of the Whitburn Band). All workshops and performances were very well received by all participants and an enthusiastic audience.

We finished off the session with a successful recording session for our proposed 10th Anniversary CD. Another session after the summer break and hopefully the CD will be available later this year.

26 March 2017

Our good friends from King's Park Youth band invited us to take part in an afternoon of music in King's Park Church. Considering it was Mother's Day and also the sunniest and warmest day of the year we played to a large and appreciative audience. We tried something a little different to end our performance by playing A Night at the Opera. This piece is a suite of well known opera songs with a narrator telling the story of each piece ... thank you Rhona!!

2 March 2017

Tonight was our annual social evening. This is a thank you to the band for all their hard work throughout the previous year. It is also an opportunity for the new members to get to know everyone in a social environment away from the rehearsal room. This year we went for a few games of bowling and some food at Braehead which got a big thumbs up from all who took part.

This evening we presented a concert with East Renfrewshire Brass Ensemble in Carlibar Primary School. Barrhead Burgh and Croy bands joined forces to play some fun music. We had a great audience and the were sent home feet tapping with a massed item from all the participants ... a hundred plus brass (and percussion!) players playing 500 miles.

Tonight we welcomed our newest members to the band. The are all Primary 6 pupils who have been playing since August last year. A number of our senior and former players were present to help mentor the beginners and they all appeared to have a great time. We hope so as it's only 5 weeks until their first concert!
